Phenotypic screening
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008760
A drug discovery approach where compounds are tested for their ability to induce a desired change in cell or organism phenotype, without necessarily knowing the specific molecular target. This method contrasts with target-based screening, which focuses on specific protein interactions. It has led to the discovery of many first-in-class drugs.
