Quadrupole mass analyser

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009725

A mass spectrometer component consisting of four parallel rods to which radiofrequency and direct current voltages are applied, creating an oscillating electric field. Ions passing through this field are separated based on their mass-to-charge ratio. Only ions with a specific mass-to-charge ratio can pass through the quadrupole at any given time.
