Thermomechanical analyser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011976
An instrument that measures the dimensional changes of a material as a function of temperature, time, and applied force. It typically consists of a probe that rests on the sample, a furnace, and a displacement sensor. Thermomechanical analysis (TMA) is used to determine properties such as coefficient of thermal expansion, glass transition temperature, and softening points of polymers.
