Electrostacking
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003792
A group of capillary electromigration methods that concentrate dilute samples by exploiting differences in field strength, and hence in conductivity, between regions of the capillary. A sample dissolved in a low-conductivity medium sits in a zone of high field strength, so its ions move quickly until they reach the boundary with the higher-conductivity background electrolyte, where the field drops, they slow down and a narrow band forms. Concentration gains are typically tenfold to a few hundredfold.
