Baffle chamber
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001096
A gas cleaning device that uses a series of plates or baffles to change the direction and reduce the velocity of a gas stream, causing larger particulate matter to settle out due to gravity. As the gas flows around the baffles, inertial forces cause particles to impact the surfaces and fall into a collection hopper. These chambers are a primary stage in many industrial air pollution control systems.
