Settling chamber
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010781
A device used in air pollution control to remove large particulate matter from gas streams by reducing the velocity of the gas, allowing gravity to cause the particles to settle out. The chamber is typically a large enclosure where the gas flow expands, decreasing its speed and enabling heavier particles to fall to the bottom. This method is effective for particles larger than about 50 micrometers.
