Arrester

Equipment that removes solid or liquid particles from a stream of gas, as used on stacks and exhaust ducts to cut particulate emissions. Common types include cyclones, fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators and wet scrubbers. A different device, the flame arrester, stops a flame from traveling along a pipe and does not remove particles.
