The process of gathering or accumulating a substance, often an analyte, from a larger volume or matrix into a smaller, more concentrated form. This step is frequently performed as part of sample preparation to increase the concentration of the target compound before analysis. Examples include collecting airborne particles on a filter or condensing volatile compounds.
