Trace nutrient

A chemical element required by an organism in very small quantities for proper growth, development, and physiological function. These micronutrients, which include elements like iron, copper, zinc, and manganese, typically function as cofactors for enzymes. For humans, the required daily intake of most trace nutrients is less than 100 milligrams per day.
