Isotopic carrier

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006240

A stable, non-radioactive isotope of an element added to a sample containing a trace amount of a radioactive isotope of the same element. The carrier serves to increase the total mass of the element, facilitating its chemical manipulation, separation, and subsequent measurement. This technique is often employed in radiochemistry to prevent losses of the trace radioactive species during processing.
