Reversed isotope dilution analysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010320

Isotope dilution analysis with the roles exchanged: a known amount of a stable isotope of the element is added to a solution of a radionuclide, and the amount of isotopic carrier already present is found from the resulting change in specific activity. It is the reverse of ordinary isotope dilution, where a known amount of labelled, radioactive or enriched, analyte is added to an unknown amount of the unlabelled element.
