Isotope dilution mass spectrometry
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006232
A highly accurate quantitative analytical technique that combines the principle of isotope dilution with mass spectrometry for precise determination of analyte concentrations. A known amount of an isotopically enriched standard of the analyte is added to the sample, and the resulting change in the isotopic ratio is measured by mass spectrometry. This method is considered a primary reference method due to its high accuracy and independence from matrix effects.
