Screening test

A preliminary assessment designed to detect the presence or absence of a particular effect or substance in a sample or population. These tests are typically rapid and cost-effective, aiming to identify individuals or samples that warrant further, more definitive analysis. A common example is a rapid diagnostic test for a pathogen.
