Spermatogenesis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011178

The complete developmental process by which spermatogonia, the diploid germ-line stem cells of the testis, differentiate into mature spermatozoa. This complex sequence of events occurs within the seminiferous tubules and involves mitotic proliferation, meiotic division to produce haploid cells, and the morphological transformation of spermatids into spermatozoa. In humans, the entire process from spermatogonium to mature sperm takes approximately 74 days to complete.
