Spermatozoon

The mature, motile male gamete, or sperm cell, which is responsible for fertilizing the female gamete (ovum). This highly specialized cell consists of a head containing the haploid nucleus, a midpiece packed with mitochondria for energy, and a flagellum (tail) for propulsion. In humans, the length of a spermatozoon is approximately 50 micrometers.
