Spermiation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011181
The process by which mature spermatozoa are released from the Sertoli cells into the lumen of the seminiferous tubules. This is the final step of spermatogenesis, where the sperm detach from the supporting cells. The released spermatozoa are not yet fully motile and undergo further maturation in the epididymis.
