Tubular fertility index
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012343
The share of tubules in a histological section of the testis in which spermatogonia can be recognized, expressed as a percentage. Spermatogonia are the germ cells at the start of spermatogenesis, so the index is used in toxicology as a measure of germ cell survival. A value of 100 percent means every tubule examined holds spermatogonia, and lower values indicate tubules depleted of germ cells.
