Tubular reabsorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012344
The movement of water and dissolved substances out of the fluid in the kidney tubule, across the tubular epithelial cells and into the surrounding peritubular fluid, from which they return to the blood. It follows glomerular filtration and occurs along the proximal tubule, loop of Henle, distal tubule and collecting duct. About 99 percent of the filtered water and sodium is reabsorbed, and glucose is normally recovered almost completely.
