Reabsorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009960
The process by which substances are transported from a fluid back into the blood. In toxicology and physiology, this most often describes the movement of water, ions, and solutes from the glomerular filtrate within the renal tubules back into the peritubular capillaries of the kidney. This process is distinct from absorption, which is the initial uptake of a substance into the body, for example from the gastrointestinal tract.
