Diuretic

A substance, agent, or drug that promotes diuresis, leading to an increased excretion of urine. These agents act on the kidneys to alter the reabsorption of water and electrolytes, thereby reducing fluid volume in the body. Furosemide is a common loop diuretic used in medicine.
