Renal plasma flow
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010181
The quantity of plasma that flows through the kidneys each minute, around 600 to 700 mL/min in a healthy resting adult. It reflects renal perfusion and is estimated from the clearance of para-aminohippuric acid, which the kidney removes almost completely in one pass, giving the effective renal plasma flow. Glomerular filtration rate is a separate quantity, roughly one fifth of renal plasma flow.
