Slugging
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010944
A process in pharmaceutical manufacturing where a powder blend is compressed into large, un-uniform tablets or 'slugs' without the use of a binding agent. These slugs are then milled into granules, which are subsequently compressed into final tablets. This method is often used for formulations that are difficult to compress directly due to poor flow properties or low bulk density.
