Depth of investigation

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001018

The radial distance into the formation from the borehole wall that a logging tool measures. This distance varies depending on the tool type, its operating frequency, and the properties of the formation and borehole fluids. For example, resistivity tools have different depths of investigation for shallow, medium, and deep measurements.
