Diamond bit

A drill bit that uses industrial diamonds as the cutting elements to penetrate rock formations. These bits are designed for drilling hard, abrasive formations or for applications requiring high rates of penetration and long bit life. The diamonds are either set in a matrix (impregnated) or mounted on individual cutters (PDC bits).
