Drag bit

A type of drill bit that cuts rock by scraping or shearing action, rather than by crushing or grinding. It features fixed blades or wings with tungsten carbide inserts that are dragged across the formation. Drag bits are effective in soft, unconsolidated formations like clays and shales, but are not suitable for hard rock drilling.
