Antiwhirl bit
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000149
A type of drill bit designed with an asymmetric cutting structure to prevent bit whirl, an undesirable lateral vibration that can damage the bit and the wellbore. These bits incorporate features such as angled blades and varying cutter sizes to create a more stable cutting action. Antiwhirl bits are often used in challenging formations where conventional bits are prone to vibration.
