Fixed-cutter bit
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001441
A type of drill bit that uses synthetic diamond cutters, typically polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters, permanently affixed to the bit body. These bits shear and scrape rock rather than crushing it, offering high rates of penetration in softer to medium-hard formations. They are widely used in modern drilling for their durability and efficiency.
