Resistive invasion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003127
The phenomenon where drilling fluid filtrate, which has a higher resistivity than the formation fluids, displaces the original formation fluids in the near-borehole region. This creates an invaded zone with a higher resistivity than the uninvaded zone. Resistive invasion is common when drilling with oil-based mud or fresh water mud into saline formations.
