Absorptance
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000012
The fraction of incident electromagnetic radiation or acoustic energy that is absorbed by a material or medium. It quantifies how much energy is converted into other forms, such as heat, rather than being reflected or transmitted. In seismic exploration, absorptance relates to the attenuation of seismic waves as they travel through subsurface rocks.
