Electromagnetic propagation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001283
The transmission of high-frequency electromagnetic waves through subsurface formations to measure dielectric properties. This method determines the water saturation and porosity of a reservoir, particularly in fresh mud environments where conventional resistivity tools are less effective. The propagation time and attenuation of the waves are recorded by a logging tool.
