Electromagnetic propagation measurement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001284
A logging technique that uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to determine the dielectric properties of a formation. This measurement is sensitive to the amount of water present in the pore space, making it valuable for calculating water saturation, especially in formations with low salinity or when drilling with oil-based mud. The tool typically operates in the gigahertz frequency range.
