Propagation time
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002976
The time a high-frequency electromagnetic wave takes to travel a unit distance through the formation, as measured by an electromagnetic propagation tool and expressed in nanoseconds per meter. It depends mainly on the formation's dielectric constant and conductivity, so it rises with the volume of water in the pores, and it is used with attenuation to estimate water-filled porosity and saturation.
