Attenuation resistivity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000209
A formation resistivity measurement derived from the attenuation, or reduction in amplitude, of an electromagnetic wave as it propagates through the rock. This measurement is a primary output of logging-while-drilling (LWD) propagation resistivity tools, which transmit electromagnetic waves at frequencies around 2 megahertz. Attenuation resistivity is less affected by borehole conditions than phase-shift resistivity and provides a deep reading for calculating water saturation in real time.
