Dielectric

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001061

A material that is an electrical insulator and can store electrical energy when an external electric field is applied. In geophysics, the dielectric properties of rocks, specifically the dielectric permittivity, influence the propagation of electromagnetic waves. This property is measured by certain logging tools to determine water saturation and porosity.
