Relative dielectric permittivity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003094
A dimensionless quantity representing the ratio of the absolute permittivity of a material to the permittivity of free space. This property, measured by dielectric logging tools, indicates the ability of a formation to store electrical energy in an electric field. It is sensitive to the presence of water and its salinity, aiding in the identification of water-filled pores.
