Depth matching
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004286
The process of correlating and adjusting depth measurements from multiple data sources to a single, consistent reference depth for a wellbore. Discrepancies arise from factors like wireline cable stretch, different measurement points, and tidal variations for offshore rigs, requiring correction to align core data, log curves, and seismic information. The driller's depth measured from the drill pipe is a common reference, but the final reference is the wireline logger's depth.
