Photoelectric effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010663
The emission of electrons from a material when light shines on it. This phenomenon occurs when photons of sufficient energy strike the surface, transferring their energy to electrons within the material, causing them to be ejected. The kinetic energy of the emitted electrons depends on the frequency of the incident light, not its intensity.
