Gamma ray log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001607
A well log that measures the natural radioactivity of formations encountered in a borehole. Shales and clays typically exhibit higher gamma ray readings due to their potassium, uranium, and thorium content, while sandstones and carbonates show lower readings. This log is primarily used for lithology identification and correlation between wells.
