Porosity exponent
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002871
An empirical constant, denoted as 'm', used in the Archie equation to relate the formation resistivity factor to the porosity of a rock. This exponent accounts for the tortuosity and geometry of the pore network, reflecting how the electrical current flows through the interconnected pores. Typical values for 'm' range from 1.8 to 2.2 for sandstones.
