Porosity unit

A measure of the pore volume within a rock, expressed as a percentage or a fraction of the total rock volume. This unit quantifies the storage capacity of a reservoir rock for hydrocarbons and water. Porosity is commonly determined from well logs such as density, neutron, and sonic, or directly from core analysis.
