Effective porosity

The fraction of the total rock volume that consists of interconnected pore spaces through which fluids can flow. It excludes isolated pores and those occupied by bound water or cement. Effective porosity is a key parameter for evaluating the storage capacity and producibility of a hydrocarbon reservoir, typically measured in percentage.
