Saturation exponent
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003261
An empirical parameter, denoted as 'n', used in saturation equations like the Archie equation to describe the relationship between formation resistivity and water saturation. This exponent reflects how the electrical conductivity of a rock changes as the water content in its pore space varies. For most clean, water-wet sandstones, the saturation exponent is typically assumed to be 2.0.
