Young-Laplace equation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004193
A fundamental equation in fluid mechanics that relates the pressure difference across a curved interface between two immiscible fluids to the interfacial tension and the radii of curvature of the interface. It describes capillary pressure, which is a key force trapping oil in porous media. This equation is used to understand fluid distribution and displacement mechanisms in enhanced oil recovery.
