Continuity equation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000830
A fundamental principle in fluid dynamics that expresses the conservation of mass within a flowing system, stating that the net rate of mass entering a control volume must equal the rate of mass accumulation within that volume. In reservoir engineering, it describes how fluid density, velocity, and cross-sectional area are related in a flow path. This equation forms the basis for deriving fluid flow equations in porous media.
