Material balance

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002293

An engineering principle that applies the conservation of mass to a reservoir system, equating the initial fluids in place to the sum of produced fluids, injected fluids, and remaining fluids. This method is used to estimate original oil or gas in place and predict future reservoir performance. It relies on pressure and production data over time.
