Balance point
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000255
The point, in coiled tubing or snubbing work in a live well, at which the weight of the string in the hole equals the upward force of wellbore pressure acting on its cross-sectional area. Before this point the pipe is light and must be pushed in by the injector or snubbing unit, and after it the pipe is heavy and tends to run in under its own weight, so the unit must hold it back.
