Mud balance

A device used to measure the density or weight of drilling fluid. It operates on the principle of a beam balance, with a fixed volume cup at one end and a sliding weight on a calibrated arm. The mud balance provides readings in pounds per gallon, specific gravity, or pounds per cubic foot.
