Diffusion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001080
The process by which particles or energy spread out from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration due to random motion. In geophysics, this can refer to the movement of fluids or gases through porous rock, or the spreading of electromagnetic fields. It is governed by Fick's laws and is a factor in well logging and reservoir engineering.
