Fast diffusion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001371
A relaxation regime in NMR measurements of fluids in rock pores in which molecules diffuse across the pore much faster than they relax at the pore wall, so every molecule samples the surface equally. The pore then relaxes with a single decay rate, and T2 equals pore volume divided by surface area and surface relaxivity, so T2 is proportional to pore size. The regime fits small pores with low surface relaxivity, and it is the basis for reading pore-size distributions from T2 spectra.
