Direct hydrocarbon typing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001102
The use of nuclear magnetic resonance logging to identify the type of hydrocarbon in the pore space directly from the T1 and T2 behavior of the fluids, instead of inferring it from resistivity and porosity. Oil, gas and water differ in diffusion coefficient and in T1 recovery, so measurements with different echo spacings or wait times separate their signals. The differential spectrum and enhanced diffusion methods are applications of it.
